Poetry Tuesday – The Guy in the Cap by Donald G. Harmande

The Guy in the Cap

He works for a conglomerate and toils very hard

Dealing with issues but able to guard

Business protocol without getting jarred.

His smile and manner are assured and steady

Convincing public he’s willing and ready

To complete all tasks whether big or small

Undertaking decisions at one’s beck and call,

Delivering what’s asked by authority

Without complaint or hypocrisy.

He shows no ire that lurks underneath,

He must be strong with no weakness beneath.

While bosses confer in hours of meetings,

He labors intensely giving warm hand greetings.

His efforts go unnoticed while top brass get kudos,

He’ll never be haughty or caught in false pose.

He’s the guy in the cap so underrated

But never can be slandered or berated.

He’s the unsung hero like no other,

The guy with the cap is a truehearted brother.

Serving us without reservation,

He’s the heart and soul of society’s salvation.
