Today is Yom Kippur, when our Jewish brothers and sisters fast and spend the day in the synagogue, atoning for sin, seeking a fresh start to the new year. The Jewish New Year began last week on Rosh Hashana, and these days between the High Holy Days are called the Days of Awe, which are meant for introspection in preparation for repentance.
